Measure Your Results....and Win!

Rich Froning Jr. Fittest on Earth 2 years in a row. He is the football assistant strength coach for Tennessee Tech. Football and CrossFit share "testing" in how fitness is measured.

Like anything we do, we use numbers, DATA to record PR's. The Benchmarks are typically the most common measures of Fittest we have in CF.

Fran, Cindy, Diane, Elizabeth, Jackie, Karen, etc etc.... to measure in a broad spectrum how "Fit" we are.

In Football, they use the combine at the collegiate level to measure specific "athleticism" for football.

40 yard dash
Bench press
Vertical jump
Broad jump
20-yard shuttle
three-cone drill
60-yard shuttle
Position-specific drills
Interviews
Physical measurements
Injury evaluation
Drug screen
The Cybex test
The Wonderlic Test

HAHA , does that say Drug Screen?, sorry it was copy and pasted! Anyways, going back to the point of DATA. We use it to see how we progress as an athlete or simply to see who is the BEST!

I had a very cool experience today. Matt Hatcher our CF Endurance coach came in and asked me to judge him on a few tests he did.

1. Broad Jump

2. Vertical Jump

3. 40 Yard Dash

4. 1 min of Burpees (6" jump)

I thought it was cool, casue they are not your typical CrossFit tests, (not the girls) but they had a broad jump in the Games this year! A great way to measure explosive power from a stationary position to full extension while reaching maximum acceleration.

So, have fun with tracking data. Make it as simple as a 3 min DU test or Unbroken push ups test, but do it once a month or once every two. Nothing is better than setting a new PR or beating the person next to you and WINNING!

Dont do Drugs!
